What brought you to Mountain Strength CrossFit?
I had just finished physical therapy for my knees and a friend suggested MSCF as a way to continue strengthening my legs. It’s working!
What is your favorite exercise or movement?
I like rowing. Coach Bob gave me a lot of tips during boot camp and I enjoy being able to just zone in on the technique.
What is a skill or movement that you are working on to improve?
I’m working on the basic mechanics of barbell moves. I joined the barbell club last January and Coach Katie gave me a few tips that have really helped my technique.
What changes have you seen in yourself since you started at Mountain Strength CrossFit?
My endurance is improving. I used to have to take a lot of breaks, but now I can usually keep moving through the full workout.
What is your favorite memory of Mountain Strength CrossFit?
I did the hero WOD on Martin Luther King day and it was a long, tough workout in honor of Dr. King. I really didn’t expect to finish under the time limit, but Coach Jorge kept reminding us to think about the strength shown by the person we were honoring in the WOD and use that as motivation. With that extra reminder, I pushed myself a little harder than I thought I could and managed to finish the WOD with time to spare.
Any advice for people who want to try CrossFit but are afraid to do so?
For anyone who might be hesitating because of an injury or weakness, I say, give it a try! The coaches have been great about suggesting options to adjust movements so you can still get a great work out.
I play defense in ice hockey and am secretly hoping that crossfit will improve my slap shot!
