What brought you to Mountain Strength CrossFit?
Fitness has always been part of my life.  I grew up an athlete, playing 3 sports in both high school and college, and stayed fit after college and throughout and during my first pregnancy.  But then I got pregnant with triplets, and carrying them to 37 weeks took a huge toll on my body.  It also took a toll on my life – and I spent the first year of their lives trying to figure out how to take care of them and my daughter, work, and have some time for me.  I met the first two objectives (barely), but was failing miserably on the third, so just after their first birthday I got serious about getting back in shape.  I was looking for something more than just a gym membership, however, and had some friends that had recently gotten into CrossFit.  The description sounded right up my alley, and fortunately MSCF was in Winchester so it was a convenient option for me.  I was hooked after the intro class, and became a full member 10/1/12!

What is your favorite exercise or movement?
It’s so hard to choose – I really love the variety of it all!  If I had to choose I’d pick running/rowing, plus KB swings and deadlifts (I feel most powerful when hitting a heavy deadlift!)
What is a skill or movement that you are working on to improve?
From a lifting perspective I am working on the snatch – it’s the one I can’t seem to really get right.  I’m also working on double unders – I had some great coaching from Rich, and am making progress, but I’m still at the point where I see double unders in a WOD and die a little bit inside 🙂

I’d also like to get better at unassisted pull-ups – I have stalled out at 2 or 3 since I got my first one in August.

What changes have you seen in yourself since you started at Mountain Strength CrossFit?
I’ve seen changes in almost everything about me!!  Physically – I’m much stronger, and have much more endurance and flexibility.  People often say “I cannot believe you have triplets!!”  and it’s such a great feeling to hear that, but what I love about that is it gives me a chance to say “I owe it all to Mountain Strength – you should check them out!”

Mentally – I’m tougher and take on more challenges than I would have in the past because I’m confident I can do it.  Working through a tough WOD or lift has done as much for my mind and confidence as it has for my body, and that’s something I greatly underestimated when I started!

What is your favorite memory of Mountain Strength CrossFit?
This is a tough question because part of what keeps me motivated and engaged is all the great memories I’ve made with our awesome community.  If I had to choose one, I’d say the Glen Memorial WOD this past fall.  Not only did I feel super finishing it, but it was also such a great display of CrossFit community.  From Stratton’s awesome rope climbing rig, to the members of other boxes that came to work out with us, it was just an all around great day!  Next year I’m shooting for Rx!  A second place shout out has to go to Ladies’ Nights 🙂
