1.What brought you to Mountain Strength CrossFit/how long have you been a member?
I’ve been doing CrossFit for 10 years or so starting in Worcester at CrossFit Center Mass. As we moved around I had to change gyms too. For awhile, I did OrangeTheory instead of CrossFit too, but eventually realized that I really just like CF. MSCF (and Rich) always had a good reputation in the CrossFit community, so I always wanted to try this place out. My wife Gaby and I met Rich at an OCR a couple years ago for the first time. I’ve been coming to MSCF for over a year now. It’s on my way to work, so the location works out well. (Let’s hope my workplace stays the same, because I like it here! Priorities… lol.)
2.What is your favorite exercise or movement?
Good question. I like V-ups because of my diving past I can make them look pretty and get many compliments. In seriousness, I like the snatch probably best because it has a very unique series of movements you have to execute with some precision for it to work which is not true for most other movements. I also like other Olympic lifts.
3.What is a skill or movement that you are working on to improve?
Handstand walk – don’t quite have it. My balance is not the best, but I also don’t dedicate enough practice time to it. Maybe one day I get serious about this one lol.
4.What changes have you seen in yourself since you started at Mountain Strength CrossFit?
I look jacked, dah. 😉 Seriously tho, it’s like “part of a complete breakfast” slogan. When combined with sound nutrition, CrossFit produces beneficial body composition effects.
5.Tell us something about yourself that your fellow athletes might not know?
We have 3 cats. I have an inflatable hot-tub on the patio – great for muscle relaxation. I used to high jump through high school, did some sprint events too, then dabbled in figure diving for a couple of years. Never been terribly good at ball team sports. Gaby had us take tap dancing and then ballet recently – that was very interesting.
