What brought you to Mountain Strength CrossFit?
I decided I needed to get back in shape about six months after having my son and I was having trouble finding the time and motivation. Also, I wanted to get strong and do more than just run. My body had seriously atrophied from lack of activity (picking up a skinny baby didn't count!). I couldn't motivate myself to do anything after coming home from work and I really needed a coach and a group of people to keep me doing something regularly. After having listened to my sister rave about crossfit over the last few years, I decided that I needed to give it a try! I had heard great things about MSCF from a friend and now I'm completely hooked.
What is your favorite exercise or movement?
Box jumps!! I seriously get excited when I see them in the WOD. A workout that combines box jumps and running is basically my jam. Also, kettlebell swings! It's hard to choose just one...
What is a skill or movement that you are working on to improve?
Stringing my double unders together. I feel like it's a mental block at this point and can only do one every other jump.
What changes have you seen in yourself since you started at Mountain Strength CrossFit?
I have way better muscle tone, I can lift huge bags of mulch easily, and I took over four minutes off my 5k time without running very much. I just feel better in general; I have fewer random aches and pains and a lot more energy.
What is your favorite memory of Mountain Strength CrossFit?
The Crossfit Open! I joined the Unicorns at the last minute and was so glad I did. It really made me feel like a part of the MSCF community and it was tons of fun. It definitely challenged me more than I had allowed myself to be challenged before. Events like that really make you feel like you a part of a big team. (Also, Unicorns for life!!)
